Lyle was born in Grande Prairie, Alberta. He grew up on a farm at Bear Canyon and received his high school education at Fairview. After graduation, he attended the Grande Prairie Regional College and obtained a Diploma in Liberal Studies. In 1982, Lyle received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alberta, and in 1986 he graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Law degree.
Lyle joined the firm in 1990 and has since been instrumental in opening branch offices in Fairview and Sexsmith. He has been a member of the Canadian Bar Association since 1983 and is a strong supporter of public legal education. He has taught with Athabasca University, Fairview College and Grande Prairie Regional College and helped create The Estate & Financial Planning Institute. He presently serves as an advisor to the Commerce Faculty, the Alumni Association and the Students Association at the Grande Prairie Regional College.
Along with public legal education Lyle has served in numerous other volunteer capacities. He has been involved with United Way, the United Church, the Canadian Bar Association, Fairview Community Support Services, and the Fairview, Sexsmith and Grande Prairie Chambers of Commerce. Additionally, he has served on the Boards of Directors of Grande Prairie Little Theatre and the Community Foundation of Greater Grande Prairie. Lyle’s volunteer roles also include the 2010 Arctic Winter Games Bid Committee, EFPI, Kev’s Kids and the Festival of Science.
Lyle is married to Shannon Nelson and has three children.
