Sherry B. Heikel

Sherry was born in Beaverlodge, Alberta.  She spent the early years of her life on her family’s farm near Huallen where she greatly enjoyed the company of her 5 brothers and sisters.

When her parents retired they relocated to Grande Prairie and she received her high school education at the Composite High School.  Immediately following graduation Sherry attended the Grande Prairie Regional College.  To this day she remains enthusiastic about the quality of local education she received.

In 1982 Sherry received her Bachelors degree from the University of Calgary and in 1986 graduated from the University of Ottawa with a Bachelor of Law Degree.

Sherry began her law articles with Charlie MacDonald in the old Evans building.  In 1987 she completed her articles with Kay McVey Smith & Carlstrom and has been a partner at the firm since 1989.

Sherry has been an instructor with the Athabasca University and Grande Prairie Regional College.  She is past secretary of the Grande Prairie Bar Association and has been involved with many local charities including the United Way and the Festival of Trees.

For many years Sherry has restricted her practice to solicitors’ work, focusing on Wills & Estates, Corporate/Commercial/Business and related law and Real Estate.  In addition she particularly enjoys Estate Administration and Estate Probate matters and working with Executors and Administrators, as well as speaking at public education seminars that intersect with her areas of practice.

Sherry is the proud mother of 3 children.  She is an avid movie buff and a voracious reader.  In her spare time she enjoys gourmet cooking, travelling and spending time with her children and husband.
